Ursan taking the torch from Hillstrom - June 4, 2014

Thursday was quite a busy day for the Do It With Class Young People’s Theatre.The company made three announcements, including unveiling its 2014-15 season lineup. The company will present three productions during the season: Dear Edwina, a junior production, will run Oct. 22 to Oct. 24; As You Like It, a senior production, will run Feb. 25 to 27, 2015; and, Peter Pan, a full company production, is scheduled for March 31 and April 1, 2015.
The company also announced Robert Ursan has been named artistic director, replacing Andorlie Hillstrom who stepped down after 20 years in the position.
“It was time. I’ve loved every moment of the two decades I spent with Do It With Class Young People’s Theatre, but there comes a time when you need to move on and pass the torch to others,” Hillstrom said in a media release.
Ursan, who has an extensive performance resume, has been the music director for DIWC for 17 of the past 20 years.
The third announcement concerned the open auditions for those wanting to participate in the 2014-15 season. The auditions, open to anyone aged 10 to 19, will be held June 14 and 15 at the Conexus Arts Centre. Those wishing to audition are asked to book an audition appointment by emailing
