About Do It With Class

Do It With Class Young People’s Theatre Inc. (DIWC) is a theatre company, unique to Saskatchewan, which fosters the development of high-level performing arts skills in children and teens ages 8 to 18.

Do It With Class provides talented young Saskatchewan performers with opportunities to learn acting, singing, and dance skills and to perform in high-calibre, full-scale musical theatre productions.

We provide performance training and production experience for young Saskatchewan theatre artists.

Many graduates of the company have gone on to become professional performers, including Canada’s Walk of Fame inductee, Tatiana Maslany, who won an Emmy Award for playing multiple clones in the TV series “Orphan Black”, starred in “She-Hulk: Attourney At Law” on Disney+ and will be returning to Broadway April 2023 for a limited run in “Grey House”; Paul Nolan, who recently wrapped his run as “Jim” in the Tony Award-nominated show “Slave Play” and is now reprising his role as “Hugh Dorsey” in the Broadway Revival of “Parade”; Sabryn Rock, star of CBCs “The Porter”; Mayson Sonntag, who played Dad in the National US Tour of “Cocomelon Live”; Amy Matysio, who played “Kenny” in the comedy series “Single White Spenny”, which aired on Showcase; Jacqueline Burtney, who has performed at the renowned Stratford Theatre Festival and at the Tony Awards, as well as Regina’s Globe Theatre; Tahirih Vejdani, who has performed at Stratfoud Shakespeare Festival, starred in the award winning psychological thriller "Receiver”, and will be performing in the South American tour of “Sweeney Todd” along with Griffin Hewitt, who has composed and co-created several new works for Talk is Free Theatre; and many more, including Jeff Irving, Kyle Golemba, Tess Degenstein, Sara-Lys Huck, and Ingrid Nilsen.

But the performers are not the only young people who benefit from the company. Over 1,000 elementary and high school students attend Do It With Class productions every year. Do It With Class offers an opportunity for these youth to experience the performing arts, theatre, and the works of classical authors through shows tailored to and performed by children and teens just like them.

Under the direction of Robert Ursan, the company delivers high quality theatre and musical theatre productions for their audiences. Rob, who has been with the company for over 25 years, is not only a well-respected director and educator but also a talented performer, writer, and composer. Several of the company’s productions - including “Peter Pan”, “Alice in Wonderland”, “The Snow Queen”, “The Little Prince”, and “Wind in the Willows” - were developed, written, and composed by Rob specifically for Do It With Class.

A registered non-profit corporation, founded in 1993 by Andorlie Hillstrom, Do It With Class typically offers three major full scale productions annually, including shows by the junior company (ages 8-12), the senior company (ages 13-18), and the full company.

If you’re a young performer, we invite you to audition for our company - and if you’re young at heart, please come support our artists!
